Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington, an independent Liberal news site, is a television personality author, author and philanthropist. Originating from Greece she came to England in the year 16 and then graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. At 21 she became president of the famous debating club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student who was elected to this position. After the graduation ceremony, she was an influential conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political landscape. The fame of her name helped in getting several high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts on news, politics and other topics. Arianna gained fame after she decided in 2003 to be an independent candidate for the California Recall Election to replace Governor Davis. Alongside this, she directed a Detroit project that promoted the use of fuel-efficient cars. In 2009, she was acclaimed by Forbes as the most influential women in media gaining 12th position on their listing and the following year Guardian included her in the Top 100 Media list. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was made president of the media company. The acquisition included numerous AOL products at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Even though she was in a close connection to both her mother and father the bond between them which helped mold her. From her childhood she showed the leadership abilities for which she has gained a reputation. At 16 years of age she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue her studies. She enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college she was part of the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first female president and sole foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master's in Economics. She became a writer, a critic in the media, as well as host of a television show and as a columnist shortly after her graduation. Also, she appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his assistance in editing.
